“A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.†– Malcolm X (1925-1965).
“If you don’t stand for something you end up standing for nothing.†– “Geoffrey Fieger” (TV Ad – 2008)
First off, this clown looks like a 60 year old lesbian with that hair cut and fake tan. Ok ok ok, that was uncalled for, but I felt like saying it after seeing this article (Top 25 Men Who Look Like Old Lesbians) a few weeks back. Aaaanyway, Feiger does some good things for the poor folks in Detroit. Granted.
BUT, why in the hell did he have to take an elegantly written quote, water it down, and try to publish it as his own? Makes me wonder how stupid he thinks the people that end up seeing his TV ads are …

Interesting, Google already indexed this blog post (2 minutes after it was posted). Nice job, Google. You should have hired me.

Couldn’t agree more about Feiger’s looks but don’t believe for a minute that he is out to help the poor. He carefully selects his plaintiffs and defendants to produce the desired outcome, which has made him very rich.
As for his quote, it is a bastardization of that which your refer…but don’t give Malcom X the credit. Most sources attribute it to Alexander Hamilton.

Indeed a laughable folly on my part.
Or, wow, I’m retarded.
Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.
– Alexander Hamilton
I think that quote is a powerful one, yet not overly complex that someone could think of it, assume they are the first, and claim it for their own. So maybe bastardized on purpose, but you’re right, Malcolm X definitely wasn’t the first to say it, just the first that showed up in a Google search. haha. If it’s on the internets it has to be true, right?
